Helpful Information for First Time Visitors Minimize
Hello! Welcome to Oshtemo United Methodist Church, we're so glad you're here!
We're sure you have some questions about us, so we'll try to answer the basics for you.

Worship
Sunday morning worship begins at 10:00 am, showing up 5-10 minutes beforehand to grab a seat is pretty standard but no one will be upset if you show up at 10:05. You will be provided with a bulletin upon entrance which will serve as your road map through the service.

Parking
There are two entrances to the church parking lot off of Stadium Dr, one on each side of the church. The parking lot can also be accessed from 9th St by turning into the Mill Creek Apartments drive; take the second left and the church parking will be the next left after that. The closed car wash next door is owned by the church and serves as extra parking space when needed.

Child Care
Children of all ages and abilities are welcome in the worship service, but there is also a nursery with an attendant available in the lower level for children under five if preferred.

Special Needs
The church is fully handicap accessible, with ramps into the sanctuary and fellowship hall and an elevator to the lower level. Hearing aid devices are available during the worship service, as are large print bulletins.

Dress Code
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable! That is the standard here at OUMC; you'll find anything from dresses and suits to jeans and a tshirt. If you have the thought that church means dress up, feel free to wear slacks and a nice shirt and you'll blend right in, just know you don't have to dress up if you don't want to.

What to Expect
When you park in the church parking lot, you'll be facing the back of the church and there will be three doors, the middle door will take you to the main lobby and the sanctuary will be directly to your right. There will be two ushers/greeters who will provide you with a bulletin and assist you with seating as needed. These individuals will also be able to direct you to bathrooms or the nursery, as well as providing the large print bulletins and/or hearing aids for the service.

If you attend worship on the first Sunday of the month it is a communion service. In the United Methodist tradition everyone is welcome to partake in communion, you do not need to be a member of the church or a member of the United Methodist Church. You can also choose not to participate, there's no pressure to participate if you don't feel comfortable doing so.

Directly following every Sunday service there is a fellowship time, which is a time to gather and chat over snacks and refreshments. This is held in the Fellowship Hall, which is down the hallway across from the exit of the sanctuary. If you follow the crowd leaving the sanctuary you'll end up in the Fellowship Hall, or the ushers would be more than happy to direct you.
